Jieyin Wu performs both as a soloist and with ensemble groups.  She has given solo recitals and chamber music performances in Shanghai, Beijing, Tel Aviv and San Francisco Bay Area.  Jieyin also performs actively as a member of orchestras, including the San Francisco Symphony, San Jose Symphony, and Oakland Symphony.

 
Among her accomplishments, Jieyin won the concerto competition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2003, and performed a concert with the orchestra as the featured soloist.  In 2004, Jieyin was appointed principal harpist of the Napa Symphony.  She was invited to perform at the National Conference of the American Harp Society in 2006.  In December 2008, Jieyin performed at the National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi for a televised documentary on the history of Christmas.  In 2011, Jieyin joined the Stanford New Music Ensemble on a concert tour to Beijing and Shanghai for the Modern Music Festival.

 
Born in Shanghai, China, Jieyin’s introduction to music was heavily influenced by her grandfather’s passion for music.  In fact, her name, which means ‘music’ in Chinese, was given to her by her grandfather when she was born.  Jieyin started learning piano at age four and harp at age nine.  She dedicated her education to music studies from a young age, studying through the elementary, middle and high schools at the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory of Music.  Jieyin received a full scholarship to study harp at the Samuel Rubin Israeli Academy of Music in Tel Aviv, Israel.  Jieyin continued her education in the United States, graduating with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in music performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.  Her harp teachers include Marcella DeCray, Douglas Rioth, Ruth Maayani and Chen-Yun Tsao.
